Aisha Buhari, wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, has responded to allegations by governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose. Fayose has accused Mrs. Buhari of being involved in the bribery scandal of a former United States congressman, Williams Jefferson. Fayose made the accusation after his personal account with Zenith Bank was frozen by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, without prior notice.Aisha Buhari, in a shocking and unexpected move, took to Twitter about an hour ago to describe Fayose as an “unchained mad dog.” She said she would not keep quiet and had enough energy to face the governor, who has been a staunch critic of her husband.
“Enough is Enough Fayose. A mad dog that isn’t chained. I refuse to keep quiet,” the first tweet read.
It was quickly followed by, “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. FAYOSE IS AN UNCHAINED MAD DOG. If Buhari is 73 years old, I Aisha am 45 years old, I have more than enough energy to face you.”
The account, @aishambuhari, is verified and is said to be the official account of the First Lady of Nigeria.
Several immediate reactions to the tweets were of shock and disappointments.
It is not yet clear who tweets for the wife of the president and if she indeed sanctioned the calling of a sitting governor “an unchained mad dog.”
