DSS arrests ex-Chief of Army Staff, Ihejirika

A former Chief of Army Staff under the Goodluck Jonathan administration, Lt. Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika (retd.), has been arrested by the Department of State Services.

The retired army chief was arrested on Tuesday night at his Maitama, Abuja residence for his involvement in the $2.1 billion arms deal scandal that emanated from former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki.
A source who confirmed the arrest to Punch, said, “It is true that we picked up the former COAS; he is helping us with investigation into the arms procurement when he was in service, but it is too early to say when he would be released on bail.”

The former COAS was arrested as new information came to light that he might have benefited from the infamous arms procurement deal.
Ihejirika has so far denied all the accusations against him.
