APC Lampoons PDP Over Call For Tinubu's Fresh CCT Trial

“the Lagos PDP, and indeed, the entire PDP, are suffering acute Tinubu-phobia, borne out of the fact that Asiwaju Tinubu constitutes the greatest nightmare for PDP rank and file, given his prosecution of the defeat of the PDP last year.” Joe Igbokwe

Although a precedent was drawn from how the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, quashed charges against the former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in 2011, chiefly on the basis that the charges did not disclose a prima facie case against the accused, the Danladi Umar led-tribunal unavoidably ruled otherwise in the ‘similar’ case of Senate President Bukola Saraki, declaring that the tribunal took an erroneous decision in the case of Tinubu.

Trailing this paradoxical revelation, there have been emerging calls that the CCT should re-visit the Tinubu’s case as a matter of rectifying the anomaly and saving the judiciary from allegations of double standard practice.

Standing tall among those demanding for such readjustment is the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, who requested through its Lagos branch that Tinubu should be arraigned for fresh prosecution.

However, the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has reacted to the call by the PDP, describing it as mere silly rants of frustrated losers.

A statement obtained by TTB, which was signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Joe Igbokwe, said that “the Lagos PDP, and indeed, the entire PDP, are suffering acute Tinubu-phobia, borne out of the fact that Asiwaju Tinubu constitutes the greatest nightmare for PDP rank and file, given his prosecution of the defeat of the PDP last year.”

The party asserted that the calls for Tinubu’s trial are being flaunted by reckless PDP members. It added, according to Leadership Newspaper, that the agitators are desperately splashing mud to tar others at a time they are facing weighty corruption cases.

“APC lambasted Lagos PDP saying they are a spent gathering of losers who face serious indictment for their role in the monumental corruption that marked the extinct woeful PDP governance in the country,” TTB added.
