Mrs. Apollonia
Egbokwu spent a greater part of her life in the service of humanity. She
retired from the Lagos State Civil Service in the educational sector as a
school teacher in September 1981 after over 30 years of dedicated and selfless
service. For many years during her service to the state and after her retirement
and up till 1992, she was a professional confectioner producing bread products
and cakes and lots of delicacies. Her very popular and often sought after
“Polonia Dainties” as her product was known, graced the shelves of many stores
and outlets including Domino and Leventis stores. When she eventually turned off
her baking ovens in 1992 and finally retired from active professional service,
she turned her energy and ...

commitment to the
service of her kinsmen and active service in the vineyard of the Lord Jesus
Christ. For over 10 year and up till now Mama has been living in America as a
citizen of the United States of America.
Mrs. Egbokwu has
always been a “crowd puller” and the occasion of the celebration of her birthday was another display of her undeniable magnetic
and benevolent personality. On Sunday 6th December 2015, activities for the celebration of the 80th
birthday celebration began with a thanksgiving service at her local parish of
the Foursquare Gospel Church in Ogba. Thereafter, at the Landmark Event Center in
Victoria Island, her children, grandchildren, members of the nuclear and
extended family and their friends assembled from all over the world; Canada,
USA, UK, South Africa and outside Lagos: Agbor, Abuja, Warri, Benin,
Port-Harcourt etc. to celebrate an altruistic and kind-hearted woman.
As events began in earnest, she stepped majestically into the
expansive and lavishly decorated venue of the event, in high spirits surrounded by
her children and family members, as she danced joyfully to the soulful and vibrant
saxophone music of Doyin Sax.
The event was
anchored by the duo of Manny Edu and Bariyu Yesufu. Later during the event,
Bariyu, a medical doctor, entertainer, and ventriloquist, gave a rousing
display with his puppet named Dogg.
When it was time for
the celebrant to dance, Mama, strong and bubbling with health, took on the
dance floor surrounded by her adorable daughters, Evelyn, Augusta, Anthonia and
Roseann and other family members.
Guests were treated
to melodious music from the band stand with memorable old school
tunes from the 70s and 80s and performances from a traditional music ensemble among many other side attractions. Guests were served with different
types of delectable food and drinks and many more delightful give away items
for keeps.
The family is
particularly grateful to the Almighty God for the preservation of their mother all
these 80 years in good health and that all her children and grandchildren are
alive and well and doing very well.

Beautiful, testimony to a mother from her children. Priceless. The lord said to honor thy mother and father so that your days be long on this earth. May the blessings rain from generation to generation.
