Jumoke Orisaguna: From hawking bread to the glossy pages of ThisDay style magazine

The story of Olajumoke Orisaguna, a street bread hawker and her fortuitous
transformation from a nondescript bread hawker into an alluring model on the glossy pages of ThisDay style magazine is the stuff which dream movie plots are made of.

Do you know what it takes to grace the cover of a high prolife fashion magazine? We all know how wannabe models would give an arm and a leg to strut the runway. But here was Jumoke the bread hawker just going about her normal business and fortune finds her. ( more pix after the cut)

Her story:
The award-winning musician, song writer and photographer TY Bello was in a photo shoot with the international music star Tinie Tempah on a street in Lagos when Jumoke ‘hawked’ into the set. She was selling Agege bread when she was spotted by Ty Bello crew. With a well-chiseled face, lean frame and height made for the runway, she struck the perfect pose of a professional model as Ty later revealed in her photos.

For one who never misses an opportunity to tell a story, TY Bello weaved the bread seller-pop star narrative that has set Jumoke on the path to greatness.

Even that timeless Christian scripture told us that "the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong”. The rags to glory story of Olajumoke Orisag
una has confirmed the holy maxim.

Jumoke left her village in Ire, Osun state, south-west Nigeria to sell bread in Lagos, but on that fateful day when TY Bello was shooting for Tinie Tempah on a Lagos street, Jumoke, the bread hawker was hawking as usual and for her it was just like another day.

Only a divine arrangement could have made this possible. Jumoke must have nursed the ambition of being successful in life but she never saw this coming.  TY Bello found her and offered a hope for a better life. Now she will live her dream with many doors opening at the same time.

Like Sarah, Abrahams wife in the Bible was told she was going to be a mother at 90 years of Age, Jumoke could have dismissed the entire encounter and said, “ me ordinary bread seller, a model?”

Jumoke’s story should teach us never to give up in life. No matter what your condition is at the moment. Remember Joseph in the Bible, from prison to the palace. With focus, hard work, dedication and luck, one can achieve one’s heart desires
