Heather
Gooch told ABC that she was flying Southwest
Airlines with her baby Aiden on December 28 and she had no idea how he would...
The
flight was Aiden's second ever and was the first time he was awake while on an
airplane.
Heather
Gooch who was flying from Florida to Islip, New York posted a note on Facebook
to thank a flight attendant named Anissa for helping make her nine-month-old
son's trip an easy one when he started to get restless. Anissa is pictured here
holding the baby
Gooch
told ABC that the moment her son started to get antsy and cry on the plane, a
flight attendant swooped in to help.
'After
we took off he started getting fussy and people were looking at us and I
thought, "Oh great,"' Gooch recalled.
'She
caught my eye and she said, ‘Do you mind?’ and picked him up and walked with
him up and down the aisle.'
Gooch
then said that her son's mood became jovial and he waved to everyone on the
plane.
Gooch
called Southwest Airlines to make sure that the flight attendant got the
recognition she deserved but was tired of waiting on the phone and listening to
the busy signal.
Instead,
Gooch posted on Southwest Airline's Facebook page instead
so that she could let Anissa know how much she cared, reports ABC.

the phone and listening to the busy signal.
'Dear
Southwest, I'm hoping you can share this post so that I can be sure that it
finds its way to a very special Southwest flight attendant. All I know about
her is that her name is Anisse. My husband and 9 month old son were flying from
Fort Lauderdale back home to Islip, NY on 12/28. This was my son's first trip
so we weren't sure how things would go. Anisse went above and beyond to make
sure that the trip went as smoothly as possible.' she wrote in the post.
'I
have NEVER had a flight attendant as kind and as helpful as she was. My son
adored her and kept looking for her as she passed by. At one point, she saw
that he was looking for her and getting ancy so she came and picked him up and
walked up and down the aisle with him while my husband and I ate our lunch.
Although this may not be a story that stands out from the rest, I wanted to
thank her and let her know how appreciated she is. We so often hear about the
negative things going on so I wanted to share this story of a someone who made
my trip a little brighter. Please help this get to her!,' she concluded.
Tears
of joy: Anissa was touched by the post and was quick to respond and share her
gratitude with the Gooch family
The
heartfelt message was posted hundreds of thousands of times and eventually
reached Anissa who goes by Anissa Brownsugar Charles on Facebook.
Anissa
was touched by the post and was quick to respond and share her gratitude with
the Gooch family.
'Y'all
are going to make me cry!!! Lol it was Truly my pleasure and he made MY day!! I
needed him more than he wanted me to hang out with! Lol you know, since I can
walk and all! Lol I don't mind being used by the babies lol,' she wrote.
Anissa
also said that when people get upset that a child is crying on the plane she
reminds them that children make noise.
'I
tell adults all the time on my flights, children are doing exactly what they
are supposed to do....make noise! Lol Think about it, the aircraft is
completely boring to them (after takeoff) and there's nowhere to run! I would
honestly rather hear them make noise and even cry than to hear an adult whine!
Lolol They have soooooo much to talk about and mom and dad deserve a break!,'
she wrote.
According
to ABC, Gooch and Anissa have become friends over email. Anissa thanks Gooch
for 'making her famous.'
Southwest
Airlines provided a statement saying they aren't surprised one of their team
acted with such kindness.
'What
Anissa did happens at Southwest every day because our people make it a point to
be extraordinary. Anissa is extraordinary,' the statement read.
'What
we love about a story like this is that Anissa was able to see and hear from
people on Facebook who were affected by her actions. What a wonderful gift for
the holidays for Anissa and Heather to share with thousands of others the joy
of such a simple, loving act.'
We often take such simple, loving and timeless acts for granted in these part of the world but, you can see
how a common ordinary gesture has earned a flight attendant the commendation of
a passenger and recognition within her organization.
